Our Schools

The eight schools which make up the "north cluster" are North Atlanta High School, Sutton Middle School, Bolton Academy Elementary, E. Rivers Elementary, Garden Hills Elementary, Morris Brandon Elementary, Sarah Smith Elementary, and Warren T. Jackson Elementary. This north cluster of schools is a fully integrated K-12 International Baccalaureate system.  

North Atlanta High School

North Atlanta High School was formed when North Fulton High School combined with Northside High School in 1991. This 17 acre facility enjoyed a $15 million renovation in 1998 and is due to complete Phase 2 of the SPLOST 3 renovation in 2011. The International Baccalaureate program has been in place at NAHS since 1982. North Atlanta High School was the first IB school in the Southeastern United States. Foreign language is one of the focal areas of study within the IB program and North Atlanta High School is the only school in the City of Atlanta to offer Arabic. As this school continues to attract more and more students, a new state of the art high school will be built to accommodate the growing student population. Sutton Middle School

In 1972 Dykes High School become Sutton Middle School.  Named after the eighth Superintendent of the Atlanta Public Schools, the campus was totally renovated in 2006 and currently has enrollment of over 1,250 students.  The campus is nestled in the Chastain Park and Chastain Horse Park area.  The continued student growth has prompted the need for a second middle school and a new high school which are planned for the next few years.  The partnership of Sutton Middle School and North Atlanta high School received the IB World School Authorization for the middle years programme (MYP) in 2008.  

Bolton Academy Elementary School

 Bolton Academy emerged when Pitts Elementary and Mitchell Elementary were combined. This newly constructed site opened its doors for the 2003-2004 school year to students and staff from both previous schools. Today, the community served is a dynamic mix of long‑time residents combined with a steady influx new residents.  Bolton Academy provides a focused learning environment for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students with an IB curriculum.

 E. Rivers Elementary School

E. Rivers Elementary School was established in 1917 on land donated by Atlanta developer Eretus Rivers. This school is one of the oldest public schools in Atlanta. Originally the school was named Peachtree Heights School, but was renamed for Eretus Rivers in 1926. The school was rebuilt and reopened in 1950 as the old school was leveled by fire in 1948. In 1994 and in 1999 this school enjoyed extensive renovations. In 2001 E. Rivers completed its "Field of Dreams" which sports soccer and baseball fields, basketball courts, a running track, and playground.

Garden Hills Elementary School

Built in 1938, Garden Hills Elementary School is on the National Register of Historic Places.  The beautiful and recently renovated brick building is nestled among older homes and stately trees in Atlanta's historic Garden Hills neighborhood.  A renovation of this schools field and green space was completed in May 2009.  With a current student enrollment of over 700 students, Garden Hills Elementary currently serves multiple Buckhead neighborhoods including Garden Hills, Peachtree Park, Peachtree Heights, Lindridge Martin Manor, and Pine Hills.  The school achieved IB status for the Primary Years Program (PYP) in 2006.  

Morris Brandon Elementary School

This Buckhead area elementary school was established in 1947 and is unique in its Art Deco facade. Located at the corner of Howell Mill and West Wesley, this elementary school's student population has grown so much that an addition of a primary campus servicing K-1st graders opened its doors in August, 2009. The primary campus is located in the old Margaret Mitchell Elementary School which went through extensive renovations.

Sarah Smith Elementary School

This Buckhead neighborhood school has experienced a significant increase in enrollment over the years prompting the need for both Primary (grades K-2) and Intermediate (grades 3-5) campuses.  The newly completed, state of the art, Intermediate Campus opened in January, 2010.  The total number of students enrolled is nearing the 1,000 mark.  Sarah Smith Elementary School achieved IB World School status in 2006 and was named a Georgia School of Excellence in 1998 and 2006.  

Warren T. Jackson Elementary School

Founded in 1967, Jackson Elementary School is located in the beautifully wooded area of Mt. Paran.  A neighborhood school that has also experienced strong growth, Jackson added a Primary Campus (grades K-1) in 2007 that captures forest views on all sides.  Enrollment at the Primary Campus is over 320 students, with a total school population of over 850 students.  Jackson received their IB Primary Years Program (PYP) status in 2007 and is a National Blue Ribbon School and a Georgia School of Excellence.
